Her first stage appearance was in 1990 with an Off-Broadway version of The Big Funk directed by John Patrick Shanley. A year later she was cast in her first TV role in The Perfect Tribute. In 1992, she earned her big break when she was cast in the movie Basic Instinct as a supporting role. In The Firm, she played the role of lead female for the very first time.
